Before Covid the children used to be invited to make a small donation to the Junior Church collection. In each December this money was used to buy ‘alternative gifts’ from a variety of charities, chosen in collaboration with the children. Recent projects included toilet twinning, self defence classes for girls in the Middle East, supplies for refugees and planting olive trees in Palestine.
Since Covid-19 has increased the risks of handling money, we are no longer taking collections in that way. Instead, we are encouraging the children to engage generously with the wider world through practical projects, for example, making Christmas cards for Seafarers.
