Midweek(online) Bible Study – Early 2021
At the start of the New Year, we will continue our exploration of the Book of Genesis, where the focus now turns to the patriarch Abraham and his wife Sarah. Known as “the father of faith”, Abraham is recognised as a prophet by Jews, Christians and Muslims. For those wishing to dig deeper, a recommended read is “The Message of Genesis 12-50” by Joyce G. Baldwin (A. Motyer, editor) - published by IVP.
Over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, here are a couple of ideas to help us prepare for our encounter with Abraham and Sarah:
· Read through Genesis chapters 12 – 22
· Consult a map of the Ancient Near East and try to locate key places in Abraham’s journey: Ur of the Chaldeans, Harran, the land of Canaan, the Salt Sea, Sodom, Bethel and Ai, the Negev (or Negeb)desert…
Lent 2021 commences on Ash Wednesday, February 17th. Over the Lenten period up to Easter, the Midweek Group proposes to reflect on the theme of “Joy” in the Bible.
